Application is in...
I rang Travellers and the late place was still available (it had only just been posted on the web - more fate!) so I immediately asked them to hold the place while i worked out the logistics.
How would i feel being away from daughter/girlfriend/family/friends for 2 months?
How would me being away feel to them?
After a few discussions with them it was soon clear that they all thought I should take the opportunity (probably because i would be a nightmare to live with if i passed it up!!!).
Even my 10 year old daughter Francesca said if it was something i really wanted to do then I should go and do it ("it's not like it would be for a whole year, is it Daddy?")
So with conscience (fairly) clear, in went:

- my application form,
- my cv,
- a letter explaining WHY i wanted to do this project and
- a lovely photo of me (they'll have to guess which one is me...)
